1/100 Exia - New Project

Because of the recent weather conditions I am out of work, so I get bored at home and decided to start a new kit. Like I stated before, I am tired of Seed Destiny kits so I went with something more recent, the 1/100 Exia. I finished the straight build in like 3 hours, now I have to prep for paint.

A couple of things that I noticed about this kit are the leg joints are not sturdy enough to support the legs so I have to figure something out to make the joints stronger. Also Bandai did a great job of hiding seams with this one so there are not that many seams to take care of. The kit looks good and im excited to see the final product.

  • Are you sure your translating these colours charts right? For example with infinite justice; white+pink+yellow+red always turns into yellowish peach colour no matter what amount of each colour is used. Also the greys all turn into the same mucky colour =P

  • Well look here...

    This is the original

    http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s40/the-red-comet/d111_mb0017-1.jpg

According to that these are the color translation for the main body color.
    H1 White ホワイト
    H3 Red レッド
    H4 Yellow イエロー
    H19 Pink ピンク

Are you eyeballing the measurements or using a measuring utensil? I use a 20ml syringe to get exact measurements. and from the Gundams that I have painted the colors have come out spot on. Look at the MG Strike freedom and Akatsuki. I'll try to mix it myself to see if I made an error. If anybody out there can see a mistake in the translation please let me know where the error lies so that I can correct it.

  • Tried it a couple of times just using small amounts of each colour but it comes out the same. Also thinking of basic colour theory, yellow+red makes orange & white+pink makes rose. I'd grateful if you could mix it or show step-by-step like you showed me with the seam removal. Or would you sell that paint to me if you got the colour right? (I know I'm desperate ^^; email subaruhess@googlemail.com)

  • stumbled across here while looking for tips on removing seam lines with an already painted part attached to the yet to be un-seamed piece. it's great to know that an american enjoys japanese creations, most of the americans i have met are stuck up and all high and mighty on their transformers or star wars crap( no offense, i enjoy star wars tremendously too, and transformers the movie was awesome) and ridicule asian products. i think it's more than just a model building- it's actually like a form of fine art, especially when you start delving into adapting the model and inserting your own ideas. well, 'nuff said, happy modelling, and thanks for the tips
